PAUL THOMAS KINARD Paul Thomas Kinard was born November 1, 1932 , at Statesville , North Carolina to Jack and Pauline Moore Kinard. He passed from this earth on the 31st day of July, 2011, in Oklahoma City . He is survived by his wife Linda Lewis Kinard of 30 years, two daughters, Angela and husband Jeremy Forgue, Beckie and husband Ben Henderson; by one granddaughter, Katherin Irwin-Forgue, and 3 grandsons, Miles Forgue, Jett Gunter and Astin Henderson, and his mother Pauline Kinard, all of Oklahoma City, one son, Dean Kinard of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lela and husband Mike Zafarano, of Dallas , Georgia ; sister-in-law Johnnie and her husband Pat Janeway of Norman , Oklahoma , and brother-in-law Jerry and his wife Jennifer Lewis of Oklahoma City . Paul loved many nieces and nephews. Dear to his heart are two nieces, Debra Graumann of Oklahoma City and Vanessa Kinard-Boling of Charlotte, North Carolina. As well as an uncle, Mr. Earnest Moore of Charlotte, North Carolina and an aunt Ruth Heidt of Virginia, as well as a large extended family and many special friends. Paul's father and a brother James "Jeep" Kinard preceded him in death. Paul graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1951 and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his military service he was stationed in many different countries, including Italy, Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. During his years of service he was a recipient of 19 ribbons and awards and was awarded three times with the Bronze Star. Upon completion of his 24 years of service in the Air Force, Paul earned his Masters Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and was a government civil servant for FAA, USAF and the US Navy, where he received numerous awards for outstanding achievements. He retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Paul also served as a Del City city councilman for four years. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and son. He loved to play golf, dance and tell very long stories. He was a mentor to many young people. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. He loved life! Paul had a wonderful sense of humor and self-deprecating style. He was a great friend to his Vietnam buddies as well as his high school alumni. He loved seafood and boiled peanuts. His favorite place in the world was his home in Oklahoma City and the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. A celebration of Paul's life will be Monday, August 8th at 2:00 pm, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1401 NW 25th (NW 25th and Classen Blvd.). In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established at Tinker Federal Credit Union for Paul Kinard, account number 0008150903. Paul, Father, Papa, Precious, Tommy, Uncle, Brother, Son and Friend was very much loved and will be missed each and every day. What a wonderful life he lived.
