Phil was born during a blizzard in Fargo, North Dakota, on February 19, 1936, to Lee and Eve Nelson. After spending his junior and senior high school years in Chicago, the family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he completed his senior year at Old Classen High School and later attended Oklahoma City University.
Phil dedicated 45 years to the flooring and furniture industry, collaborating with builders and developers nationwide.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Kirk, of San Diego, CA; his daughter, Jill, of Oklahoma City, OK; his grandson, Nathan, and his wife, Taylor; and the lights of his life, his great-granddaughters, Oaklyn and Brinley, of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his recently discovered brother, Tim, of Utah.
An avid golfer, Phil’s family requests that any memorial contributions be directed to the First Tee youth organization.
