Retha Ann Taylor was born on May 27, 1937 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Warren Leroy Lister and Verna Mae Lister. She attended Chickasha Schools and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1955. Retha passed away on October 17, 2021. Retha attended Epworth Methodist Church in Chickasha, all throughout her childhood. Recognizing the importance of Jesus Christ in her life, she eventually joined the church as a teenager. After high school, she attended a year at OSU in Stillwater before returning to Chickasha where she married and had 2 sons, Bret and Stacey. Eventually, Retha moved to the Oklahoma City / Edmond area where she raised her sons. She attended Central State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught health / physical education for over 20 years before retiring from teaching. Developing an interest in healthcare, Retha went to LPN school at Metro Tech in Oklahoma City, eventually earning an LPN license in 1995. As an LPN, Retha worked in home health, did work for the Department of Mental Health. She also did consulting work for the disabled. Spending time outdoors and working on her farm was a passion of Retha's. She had a tremendous love for farming and ranching. Retha was an accomplished barrel racer, earning numerous awards over the years. She enjoyed trail riding as well. When she wasn't working with her horses, she could always be found working with her cattle. Retha was active in several barrel racing circuits, her favorite rodeo circuit and round up clubs over the years. She enjoyed the company of her classmates and kept in touch regularly with the Chickasha Class of 1955, attending many of their activities. Retha was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Carol Lister and her grandson Derrick Taylor. Survivors include her sons, Bret Taylor (Sue) and Stacey Taylor (Glenda). Grandsons, Shane Taylor (Bonita) and Johnathan Taylor (Carolyn) and granddaughter Shawna Taylor. She has 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dog T Bone, her blue heeler. A memorial service for Retha will be held at the family home in Tuttle on November 6, 2021 at 1pm.
