Richard Edward Carter was born November 22, 1953 on his parents first wedding anniversary. His dad was in the US army and stationed in Mountain View, Alaska. The family moved back to hometown Oklahoma City and his brother was born 3 years later. Rick attended Oklahoma State University art school, where he met his future wife, Diane. He graduated Oklahoma University with a BFA in printmaking. They married July 24, 1982, started a family and a business. Rick's Landscaping became Rick's Landscaping Nursery in 1986 when the Carter's purchased a fixer-upper old farmhouse on half an acre of land on Norman's west side. Northwest Norman developed around the property while Rick and Diane raised their kids and grew the business. Rick passed peacefully ,on May, 14th his own home due to complications from cancer. Preceded in death by his father, Richard Abraham Carter: his brother Rodney Dale Carter. His mother Elsie Ramona Carter currently resides in an Alzheimer's Care unit. His surviving family is wife, Diane Thayer Carter, son Erin Thayer Carter, Erin's partner Jennifer Blunt of OKC and daughter Katherine Nicole Carter, and Katie's fiance Alarica Perez. A memorial will be held at the home/business 2710 36th Ave NW, Norman, OK, 2 - 4 pm. June 24, 2019.
