Memorial services for former Clinton contractor and businessman Robert Bartlett Poore, 60, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Clinton, with the Rev. Steve Brant officiating. Poore passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at his home in Norman. He was born May 16, 1954, to Henry B. and Jane R. Poore in Sulphur and was the second of four children, with his older brother, Steve, younger brother, Jack, and younger sister, Nancy. He moved with his family as a child to Norman in 1959, grew up there and graduated from Norman High School in 1972. He moved to Clinton in fall 1976 and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. He married Kathy Allison on July 16, 1977. To that union were born on April 30, 1979, a daughter, Tara Allison, and on Nov. 15, 1982, a son, Rhett Bartlett. Robert loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and flying. He had his pilot’s license from a young age out of high school. He also loved the space program and all rockets and NASA missions. He was a partner in TPC (The Poore Company), a family owned oil field rental company in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Robert was a licensed plumber and contractor, building many homes, room additions and remodels in Clinton. He owned and operated Robert's Construction and Plumbing and Clinton Homes Ltd. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Poore, in 2003 and his father, Henry, in 2013. He is survived by his mother, Jane Poore of the home; one brother, Jack Poore of Kingston; one sister, Nancy Smith and her husband David of Norman; a sister-in-law, Nancy Lynne Poore of Norman; two children, daughter Tara Tannenbaum of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and son Rhett Poore and his wife Desiree' of Clinton; three grandchildren, Patrick Shaw of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Landry and Jentry Howell, both of Bessie; one great-grandchild, Zoe Howell of Bessie; numerous nieces and nephews; and Tara and Rhett’s mother, Kathy Allison of Clinton.
