Robert Frederick Ringwald

October 14, 1931 — August 17, 2017

Life Celebration Service Thursday, August 24th, 2017 - 10:00 AM - Corbett Funeral & Cremation 807 W Wilshire Blvd - Oklahoma City, OK - 73116 Robert Fredrick Ringwald “Bob” was born October 14, 1931, on a farm in Payne County, Oklahoma near Perkins on the Cimarron River, to parents Leslie Lee and Frances Naomi Ringwald. He went to heaven August 16, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He had four half-siblings: Lucille (d), Raymond (d), Jake (d), and Hazel (d); and twelve full-siblings: Ben, Charles (d), Gerald (d), Kenneth (d), Ronald (d), Albert (d), Troy, Joyce, Mary, James (d), Dennis, and Leroy. He married Leta Opal Schreiner on January 10, 1954, and they recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Bob is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Daniel), and two sons Fred (Karen) and Robb. Bob and Leta lost their second daughter, Roanna, in 1984. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Cena, Elliot, Colin, and Luke. Bob learned early in life to work hard and have fun from his father. This is something he passed on to his children. He got his first job outside the home at age 10, and was valued for his hard work by many different employers, primarily in the agricultural field, and also in construction. He didn’t enjoy construction work much. Bob also was a veteran, serving in the Army. He worked his way through school, completing a B.A. in Social Studies/Education at Oklahoma Baptist University in 1957. He and Leta then moved to California where Bob began his thirty year career in teaching. Education was VERY important to Bob and he wanted his children and grandchildren to be sure to do their very best in school. He demonstrated this by going on to complete a Master’s Degree in Education while working as a teacher. He also worked in real estate while teaching school. Bob and Leta shared homes in Berkeley, CA, Shawnee, OK, Ukiah, CA, Barstow, CA, Guthrie, OK, and OKC, OK. For 13 years after retirement from the Barstow Unified School District they lived as full-time RVers, traveling throughout the US and Canada before moving to Guthrie. One of the things that brought Bob the most fun was travel, and he and Leta traveled the world extensively, visiting family and friends, and sharing God’s love with everyone they met. Bob talked easily to anyone wherever he went, whether he spoke their language, or not. His last years were at Emerald Square Assisted Living where he made many friends. God continued to use him as he led a weekly devotion. He will be missed by his many friends and, of course, by his loving family.
