Robert Bruce “Sprucey” Tuckey, 60, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on April 18, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Bruce was born on March 17, 1963, to Alfred Robert “Bob” Tuckey and Mildred Lorene (Smith) Tuckey in Portland, Oregon. In his childhood, favorite memories were spending time with his sister, Shirley (Ford) Flynn and flying in his father’s plane around the Pacific Northwest. He traveled the world - living in Alaska, Saudi Arabia, and Washington. He eventually settled in Oklahoma City where he raised his family, though Seattle always held a special place in his heart.
An early adopter and enthusiast of personal computing, Bruce went into IT working at Liberty Bank, Bank One/Chase, Linn Energy, Walmart, and Seagate, before working at Northrop Grumman as a Senior Principal Computer System Analyst. He recently completed his Associate of Science degree at Oklahoma City Community College, an accomplishment he took great pride in.
Bruce was a man of many hobbies. He could often be found in his “data center” tinkering with new programs and technologies. He loved riding his bike on the city trails with his wife, Terrie, and dog, Ninja, working on jigsaw puzzles, listening to music of all genres, and watching Sci-Fi shows, often rewatching Stargate and Fringe.
The center of his life was his family. He married Terrie (Jones) Tuckey on March 20, 2003, creating a blended family with daughters Leah and Stayce and son, Tyler. As his family likes to say, Bruce went non-stop, always looking for the next activity, the next adventure. Family highlights were “Big” trips to Seattle and Vancouver.
He is survived by his wife Terrie Tuckey and Best Dog Ninja of the home; daughter Leah Tuckey of Oklahoma City; son Tyler and Rebecca Cawyer of Oklahoma City; daughter Stayce and Nick Hazlett of Solon, Iowa; and granddaughters Royal and Willow Hazlett who lovingly referred to him as “Grumpa.” He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister.
Services will be on April 25th at Castle Falls, 820 N MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73127. Flowers can be sent to Corbett Funeral and Cremation at 807 W Wilshire Blvd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73116.
