Roberta Shirk

d. May 3, 2011

Roberta Ray Shirk, 97, passed away May 3, 2011 with family at her side. She was born in Skedee, Oklahoma in 1913 to Rose Schul and Robert Ray. When she was three years old, her family moved to Stillwater, OK. While attending Oklahoma A&M College earning her Associate Secretarial Degree, she met her future husband Howard. They lived in Claremore, OK, for most of their 61 years of marriage. She and Howard loved to trek all over the country in their trailer to play golf and spend time with family and friends. The grandchildren eagerly anticipated summer camping trips to Bella Vista. Roberta was devoted to her family and had a deep relationship with God and Jesus. As a dedicated United Methodist, she served on endless committees and helped many fellow church members. Roberta enjoyed playing card games, golfing, reading, bird watching, gardening, and cooking, especially her deliciously famous grandma cookies. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, husband Howard in 1994, and grandson Ray Wolf in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy and her husband Mike Madden; grandchildren Dale Wolf and wife Jimmika, Mary Logan Wolf wife of Ray, Tracey and husband Robert Saunders all of Oklahoma City, and Cheryl and husband Billy Moore of Pegram, TN; and 6 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Her life will be celebrated with a family service. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Claremore, OK, 1615 N Hwy 88 Claremore, OK. 74017.
