Robert W. Tilford, 86, passed away Jan. 16, 2013 at Tuscany Village Nursing Center, Oklahoma City, OK. Bob was born in Creston, Iowa, June 24, 1926 to William and Cleo Tilford. He graduated from Indianola High School and Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where he met Peggy, the love of his life. They were married March 18, 1949. Bob, Peggy and their two daughters moved to Franklin, NE in 1959 and opened Tilford’s Dept. Store. They ran the family business until 1980 when they retired and moved to sunny and warm Las Vegas, Nevada. After Peggy’s death in Feb. 2010, Bob moved to Oklahoma City. He fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Survivors include daughters, Tammy Greiner of Oklahoma City, Okla; Norilee Peterson of Waukee, Iowa; four grandsons, Stephen and wife, Rolanda of Liberty, MO; Chad and wife, Carrie of Ankeny, Iowa; Randy and wife, Natalia of Ankeny, Iowa; Joshua of Stuart, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter. Bob's family made the generous gift of donating his body to science for medical research, innovation and education through the non-profit GenLife Institute. GenLife Institute exists to provide people throughout the world with the ability to make a difference for future generations while living healthier and longer lives.
