December 26, 1952 - July 3, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Roger Bliss, 58, passed away from cancer on July 3, 2011, with his family at his side in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born in Hollywood, CA on December 26, 1952 to Irving and Karen Bliss. When Roger was only about 6 months old, they bought an undeveloped piece of land - which they dubbed "Blissful Acres" - in rural Auburn, CA. Karen, Irv, and Roger lived in a tent, with Irv & Karen working as they could to build their "dream home" in the beautiful countryside. Irv worked at DeWitt State Hospital as a psychiatric technician, a demanding new occupation for him. Water was an immediate problem, as two costly wells proved unsuccessful, leaving the family with no water supply in the summer months. Irv had to haul in water from a reservoir; Karen had to wash diapers in a steel tub outdoors. Roger waded into poison oak many times, but only passed it on to his parents without getting it himself.
