Rosalba Robins

Rosalba R. Robins passed away August 8, 2011 in Bethany, Oklahoma at the age of 55. She was born in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. She was a very caring person who cared for people deeply, especially her parents and siblings. She admired her father for giving his children a desire to search for knowledge. On an international scholarship, she came to the United States, learned the English language and became an outstanding student at Oklahoma City University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. Rosalba was awarded another scholarship from the Oklahoma Hispanic Professional Association for superior academic performances, leadership and community involvement. She later achieved her Masters degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. In the early 90"™s, she started as a kindergarten teacher at Columbus Elementary and became the lead teacher for the new "Spanish Immersion Program". Rosalba became a respected bilingual counselor for Oklahoma City Public Schools for 18 years. Being bilingual, she moved from school to school at any given crisis. She loved her kids and cared much for the families she dealt with, and always tried to find the best solutions for their situations. The students and their parents, as well as everyone that came in contact with her, were touched by her God-given grace, love and personality. Rosalba was admired and loved by all who knew her. She eventually returned to Columbus Enterprise Elementary "“ the school that held a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed. Embraced by the Light, may she rest in peace. Rosalba is preceded in death by her mother, father and sister, Luisa. She is survived by her husband Mark Robins and son, Donnie Cashion. She is also survived by two brothers, Alfonso Ruelas, Ezekiel Ruelas, four sisters, Eloina Ruelas, Lilia Valdez, Otilia Rivera, Mily Ruelas and many loving nieces and nephews. Family and close friends attended a memorial, in celebration of her life.
