Rosemary Gerken

Rosemary Gerken was born to Harry and Mary Bertha Shelton in Watova, OK on September 2, 1918, she had one sister, Clara, now living in Houston, TX. Shortly after her birth they moved to Allen County, Kansas; where she attended school in Iola, Kansas. This is where she met and married Richard Gerken on June 1,1941. They lived in the area for several years where they had their first and second child; Richard Dean Gerken, August 2, 1942 and John Alan Gerken on September 29, 1945. In 1947 they were on their way to California to strike it rich when they ran out of gas in Oklahoma City and remained here for the rest of their lives. On March 24, 1948 they gave birth to their 3rd child Kathleen Rose. They have 7 grandchildren, Tracy Dawn, Denise, Brian, Marissa, Eric, Christie and Mandi, and 16 great grand children. Richard worked as a home decorator and a paper hanger and rosemary worked in the Oklahoma City School system as a cook in the cafeteria, until they retired. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Richard Gerken in 1993 and her grandson Eric Gerken in 1979.
