Rosie Delphene “Del” (Hughes) Cantrell, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Tuscany Village Nursing Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Del was born February 5, 1937 in Pierce, Oklahoma to Edward Lee and Thelma Magalene (Morris) Hughes. Del married Hairl Cantrell on October 23, 1954 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 60 years. Del loved spending time with her family and cooking their favorite foods including biscuits and gravy, peach cobbler, and chicken with dumplings. Her snack of choice was a Hostess Twinkie. Del was a homemaker while raising her two daughters before returning to work as a bookkeeper at Roto-Rooter. Rosie is survived by her daughters, Anita Parks and husband, John; Janet Fowler and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Shane Parks, Casey Parks, Gina Fowler, and Jared Fowler; great-grandchildren, Asher Parks, Noah Parks, Izabella Fowler, and Evelynn Fowler; brothers, James “Jim” Hughes, Billy Hughes, Edward Hughes, Jr., Melvin Hughes, Ernest Hughes, Glen Hughes, Ronald Hughes and Jerry Hughes; sister, Cathy Mann; and many other nieces, nephews and relatives. Del was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Thelma; and husband, Hairl. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2141 South 129th East Avenue in Tulsa at 10:30 am with Dan Pate officiating. A reception will follow at the Hicks Community Center, 3443 South Mingo Road. Del will be buried at Pierce Cemetery, Pierce, Oklahoma.
