Ruth Throne, 82, of Kingfisher died March 19, 2010, at her home in Kingfisher after a short battle with cancer. ??A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher with the Rev. David Krepel officiating. She was born February 17, 1928 to Frederick William August and Mary Meier in Kimball, South Dakota. ??She graduated from Eatonville High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, Merle Throne on June 16, 1946. They had two children, Danny Throne and Loretta Ruhl. She was a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher. After living in Washington for several years, the family moved to Oklahoma to the Throne family farm which was acquired in the land run. Ruth enjoyed working in the health care industry. In Washington, she worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital as a nurse"™s aide. After moving to Kingfisher, she continued her work as an aide at Kingfisher Hospital. For many years, she and her husband, Merle had a dairy farm. After selling their dairy, she worked at the Okarche Medical Clinic for many years. In the final years of her career, she moved into the nursing home industry. She took classes and became Activities Director at the First Shamrock Nursing Center. After a few years, she went back to school and got her Administrator"™s License from the State of Oklahoma. She became Assistant Administrator at First Shamrock under Wanda Willms, her mentor and friend of many years. After retiring, Ruth developed Alzheimer"™s disease. Sister-in-law, Bernice Piotrowski, came to visit often which gave Ruth great comfort. Her husband, Merle took care of her in their home until her death from lung cancer. She is survived by her husband, Merle, of the home; one son, Danny Throne and wife Tina of Kingfisher; one daughter, Loretta (Lori) Ruhl and husband Sam of Yukon; six grandchildren, Melissa Barker and husband Eric; Daniel Throne; Jennifer Lukasek and husband Cody; Jacelyn Rother and husband Justin; Bethany Darrough and David Ruhl; five great-granddaughters, Jalie, Charlie, Jadyn Grace, Indy and Journey Hope; one sister, Alice Riddle of Oregon; one brother and best friend, Albert Meier of Washington; special niece, Debra Fretts (who came to help care for her in her last days); many other special nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marie and Margaret; three brothers, Fred, Robert and Delbert.
