Sandra Lee "Sandi" Austin

January 1, 1948 — December 21, 2015

Life Celebration Service Saturday, January 9th, 2016 - 01:00 PM - South Lindsay Baptist Church 3300 S Lindsay Ave - Oklahoma City, OK - 73129 Sandra Lee Austin (Sandi) Sandi was born in Enid, Oklahoma on January 1, 1948 and passed into the loving arms of her Savior on December 21, 2015. Sandi was 67 years of age. She was preceded in death by her father Patrick (Pat) Bolin, Brother Patrick Gene Bolin, and Brother Michael Ray Bolin. Sandi is survived by her mother Maxine Bolin, True Love and Help-mate Mike Hensley, Daughter Kim Knight and husband Billy, Son Collin Berry and friend Valerie Johnson, Son Jason Hensley, Granddaughters Lily and Parker Knight, Grandson Kasyn Hensley, Sister Sherry Parker her husband Mark and nephew Austin Parker, Brother Tony Hammon and wife Colleen, Niece Melissa Bolin Norman, and Nephew Matt Bolin. She is also survived by her precious Sheltie Maddie Mae who gave her years of amazement and special companionship. Sandi attended Capitol Hill High School and started working while still in school. Sandi's strong drive to work carried with her throughout her life time. Her career included working in the banking industry, Gallo Wines, Summit Machine Tool, and finally she just enjoyed 20 years with Veolia Energy. Over the years her strong organizational skills were evident with those who worked with her. Sandi was just 10 days away from her retirement and was looking forward to that time with mixed feelings. Sandi was fiercely loyal with her work and especially loyal to her family. She was the definition of the “independent woman” and had her way. Sandi never met a task she didn’t believe she could handle. She loved cooking and loved watching the Food Network finding recipes she thought sounded good and would often try them out. Sandi loved sports of all kinds spending a good portion of her adult life bowling and playing softball. After years of coaxing from Mike, Sandi began to umpire softball instead of playing. She called adult ball at Northside, USA Sports Complex, and Newcastle fields, where she found she had a passion and love for youth softball. She umpired several Youth World Tournaments and National Invitational Tournaments in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and West Texas but sincerely loved working with what she called “her girls” in Moore. As seen by her family with hundreds of posts on Facebook, emails, and text messages, Sandi has touched many lives with her tenacious spirit and care. There will be a memorial service at South Lindsey Baptist Church, 3300 South Lindsey Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Saturday January 9, 2016 starting at 1:00pm in the sanctuary. This will not be a somber time bring a thought or a favorite story as we share and celebrate Sandi’s life.
