Sherman E. Karns Sr

Sherman E. Karns, Sr., passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 1:50 p.m. He was born on Jan. 3, 1922, to Donald and Naomi Karns in Royal Oak, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and married Rita Ballinger in Liberty, Indiana, on April 25, 1953. They had one son, Sherman, II. Sherman retired from Montgomery Ward in 1981 and was owner of Karns Realty and Associates. He was a longtime member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife Rita J. Karns of the home; their son, Shennan E. Karns, II, of Oklahoma City and his children: Brandy, Elizabeth, and Michael; Shennan II's wife Vema's (dec) children: Dee Ann and Cynthia, 5 grandchildren, his niece, Colleen Azar and her husband, Robert, and their two daughters: Tiffany and Shannalia; as well as many nieces and nephews in Florida. Graveside services will be officiated by Dr. J.D. Ward of the New Hope United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
