Stevenson Thad Jennings

d. March 16, 2010

Stevenson "Steve" Thad Jennings, born April 12, 1937 to Edgar and Lorene Jennings in Ardmore, Oklahoma, departed this earthly life for eternity with our Heavenly Father on, March 16, 2010.  He attended the University of Oklahoma from "˜55-"™59 as a recipient of a football scholarship under Bud Wilkinson and majored in Business Administration.  While there, he met and married Mary Louise Bellman, with whom he shared 51 years.    At the age of 12, Steve accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, then immediately set about a given mission, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to witness to and also be an influence in his father"™s same acceptance, by which he always felt humbled. He was the eldest of three children, father of three, grandfather of nine and great grandfather of one.   Steve was a "Sooner born and bred", yet a very humble and gentle giant who never met a stranger.  In his compassion and infinite wisdom, he helped countless individuals who were in need.  In recent years, through many health issues, there were never complaints from him "“ not even to his wife, who cared for him in the home.  No one could have cared for a sweeter soul.  He was at peace throughout his physical sufferings, with his favorite saying being "Wherever you go, there you are."   He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Matthew Jennings. Steve is survived by his wife, twin daughter, Lisa Coberly and husband Robert of Langley, OK, twin son, Thad and wife Renee"™, and son, Shaum and wife Carla, both of OKC; grandchildren: Jonathan and wife Brooke, Josh and wife Kelsy, Paige Duncan, Shane, Christopher, Keely, Taryn and Dakota; sisters Pam Telford and husband Bob of OKC and Jeani Stevens and husband Bob of Youngsville, LA; two aunts, an uncle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.   A "CELEBRATION" Service of Steve"™s life will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 2pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, located at NW Expressway and Portland. Steve chose research in his departure to aid in the finding of a cure for esophageal cancer, which is becoming very prevalent and requested that any flowers be in the form of acts of kindness to others.
