Vera Sue Due was born on January 20, 1933 in OKC to James and Doris DeFriese, and passed away September 27, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by one son, Billy Due (wife, Pam), of Cleveland, Ohio, two daughters, Lisa Gates (husband, David) of Newcastle, Melanie Broadway of Yukon, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister, Vernie Jones of Colorado Springs, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1952 and attended the Community of Christ church all her life. She was very active as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school director, and in many other capacities. She was legendary for her homemade strawberry cakes, divinity, fudge, and Saturday night hamburgers. She resided for her last 10 years at the retirement community, Village on the Park, in OKC and will be missed there by many dear friends. Her greatest love was her family, friends, and all children. Children were drawn to her and were instantly comfortable in her arms. The family would like to extend great appreciation to the Integris Hospice House. Their care and concern was lovingly felt throughout her final days. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Corbett Funeral Service 3 pm- 8 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11 am at the Chapel Hill Cemetery followed by a 12:30 Memorial Service at The Community of Christ Church (971 SW 70th, OKC).
