Thomas W. “Rob“ Robbins, 73, passed away Tuesday January 10, 2012 in Oklahoma City , OK . Born and raised in Pittsburgh , PA. Rob proudly spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. His tour of duties included several overseas assignments in England , Korea , and Thailand . After retiring from the service he continued his passion for aviation by teaching air traffic control for the FAA. Throughout his life, Rob had a love for his family and sports, especially golf, through which he developed lasting friendships. He was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Robbins and Lillian Zwigart. He is survived by his wife, Mary Robbins of Oklahoma City,OK; sons, Jon Robbins and wife Jerilee; Kevin Robbins and wife Marita of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter, Melissa Gilbert and husband Vase of Oklahoma City, OK; Stepson, Chris Wiedmeyer of Kansas City,KS. Five grandchildren; Kyle, Mike, Russell, Dakota, and Dalton and one great-grandchild, Eva; brother Doug Robbins and wife Sharon of New York; his“dear” Aunt, Lois “Doe” O”Conner, the late Nan Maxwell and William “Bill” Robbins all of Pittsburgh , PA. Marilyn Cheek, of Sachse , TX and Eileen Smith of Winston Salem ,NC. sisters-in-law: Cathy Forsyth and husband Len of Houston,TX, Anne Bartels and husband Jim of Greendale, WI. brother-in-law: John Kemmet.of Milwaukee,WI . Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday January 19, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Dawn Enderwood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Corbett Funeral Home.
