Vernon Dangerfield

July 18, 1922 — February 16, 2009

Vernon Dangerfield Sr. the son of Vinnie McGuire and Charlie Dangerfield was born on July 18, 1922.  He was raised in Arthur City, Texas.  At a young age he joined the United States Army and later married Willie M. Taylor who has preceded him in death.  Of this union three children were born.  After an honorable discharge he then joined the United States Air Force where he received another honorable discharge in 1945.  In 1946 he accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior and joined the Holy Divine Baptist Church located in Oklahoma City, OK.  Under the stewardship of Reverend Green he became a minister. After many years he decided to organize a church by the name of 1st. Shepherd Baptist Church located in Oklahoma City, OK.  During this time he met and married Hattie M Booth.  After Pastoring for a number of years he joined the Greater Galilee Baptist Church family as Pastor where he ministered for well over 19 years.  He later retired as Pastor Emeritus.  Throughout his life, he influenced and cared for many people along the way.  He was a role model, teacher and father figure in many walks of life.  He took great interest in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He will be greatly remembered and will live forever in their hearts.  Vernon Dangerfield leaves behind his wife Hattie M Dangerfield, OKC, his children Anglea Jones & husband, Ardmore, OK; Mr. & Mrs. Charles Henderson, Tampa, FL; Mr. & Mrs. Milfred Alexander, Texas; Mr. & Mrs. Billie Alexander, Texas; John Alexander, OKC, OK; Ruby Bell - Deceased; Sylvia Booth - Deceased; Sixteen Grandchildren; Twenty-Four Great Grandchildren; Five Great Great Grandchildren; As well as a host of family and friends.Funeral service to be held at Fairview Baptist Church (1700 NE 7th Street, Oklahoma City, OK) the morning of Saturday, February 21, 2009 at eleven o"™clock with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
