Virginia E. Lotspeich

May 22, 1923 — October 3, 2010

Virginia (Ginny) Gayle Evans Lotspeich was born in Windsor, Colorado, May 22, 1923 to Jesse J Evans and Lucy Grace Eaton Evans. She attended Windsor High School, where during her senior year she met her High School Choir Director, and future husband, Henry Alva Lotspeich. They married shortly after her graduation on June 1, 1941. When WWII came Al was drafted and the two traveled to many bases around the US. While Al played in the Army band, Ginny was a welder, welding ships for the US Navy. After the war, Al"™s job took them to several cities in several states until they eventually settled with their family of 3 in El Paso, Texas in 1959. While raising her young family Ginny completed her Bachelor of Music degree and graduated with honors from Texas Western College in 1962. She taught vocal music in the El Paso Independent School District for 25 years and taught piano at Hummingbird Music camp for many summers. For many years she was an ever-ready accompanist for UIL solo contest, served as wardrobe mistress for the University Civic Ballet Company and was active in the United Methodist Women"™s Organization, holding many offices, including that of President and Program Director. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She shared her love of life and song with them. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and spouse. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jesse and Mary Lotspeich, Dallas Tx, Tim and Myrth Mehl, Oklahoma, Roxan Slaton, El Paso Tx,  6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. As per her wishes her ashes will be spread around the grounds of Hummingbird Music Camp, Jemez Springs, New Mexico where she will always hear beautiful music, and the Colorado Rockies, where she will always see her beloved mountains.
