Walter “Bo” E. Simmons, Jr., born in Stuttgart, AR, March 31, 1944 to Walter E. Simmons and Francis Simmons, passed away peacefully May 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. He was the eldest of four siblings and is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Diana Alexander Simmons, his son Steven Simmons and his spouse Julie, his daughter Kathy Morton and her spouse Lance, and his beloved grandchildren Tyler Smith, Brady Simmons, Mason Morton, Halie Simmons, and Piper Morton. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Pennington and her spouse John. He was preceded in death by his brother Bill Simmons and his sister Pat Jeffries. His bond with his brother Bill was further enriched by the love and companionship of Carol Simmons who was not just a sister-in-law, but a dear friend. Also mourning his loss is his brother-in-law Curtis Jeffries.
Family was the cornerstone of Bo’s life and they filled his life with simple pleasures that brought him immense joy. He delighted in fishing with his grandchildren, sharing stories and laughter by the water’s edge. A passionate NASCAR fan, he never missed a race, always cheering for his favorite drivers.
Bo was incredibly proud of his children and took great pride in their accomplishments. His grandchildren were the light of his life, bringing him boundless happiness and pride.
He will also be fondly remembered by his many special nieces and nephews, each holding a unique place in his heart.
Bo proudly served his country as a photomapper in Vietnam for the United States Air Force. After his military service, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Integris, where he worked as an IT analyst for 23 years before retiring in 2012.
Walter “Bo” E. Simmons, Jr.’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and the importance of family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
