Wayne Babcock Lockwood

March 7, 1929 — December 14, 2008

Wayne Babcock Lockwood, M.D., 79, died at home on December 14, 2008 following a brief illness. His wife and children were at his bedside. Wayne grew up in St Augustine, Florida. He graduated from Ketterlinus High School & the University of Florida. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania & subsequently served two years in the Army at Ft Benning, GA. He began private practice in Orthopaedics in OKC, in 1962. He volunteered his medical services during the Viet Nam War. He taught orthopaedic medicine at the University of Oklahoma and the Veterans Hospital in OKC. Wayne was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. He loved playing golf with his father, children, and friends. He also loved reading and traveling with his family. Wayne is survived by his wife, Nancy, his sons, William Wayne Lockwood of Grand Junction, CO & Christopher Charles Lockwood of Seattle, WA, his daughter, Kathryn Ann Lockwood of San Diego, CA, and his grandchildren Dale, Daniel, Laura, Samuel, Michael, and Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Wing Lockwood, and his parents, Dr. Vernon & Florence Lockwood. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 2:00 pm at the Central Presbyterian Church at 50th and May. Donations may be made to one of his favorite charities: Central Presbyterian Church, the University of Oklahoma Medical School, the Allied arts, the Presbyterian Urban Mission, the Humane Society, or to a charity of your choice.
