Wayne McKinley Zettlemoyer, 75, of Oklahoma City, OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 24, 2022.
We are deeply saddened and feel the enormous loss left in our hearts by his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debbie Zettlemoyer, daughters, Heather Portwood, and husband Christian, Trinity Bilodeau, and husband Christopher, eight beautiful grandchildren that he loved with all his heart, Caleb, Oliver, Isaac, Evie, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Eden and Piper, his sister Susan McNulty of Philadelphia, PA, and brother Bryan Stansfield of Shiremanstown, PA, plus 3 nephews, Eddie, Louie, and Duke McNulty.
Wayne was born in Camden, NJ, on April 28, 1947, to Lewis Zettlemoyer and Phoebe Stansfield. After graduation, his first job was with the Westinghouse Aerospace and Defense Center in Baltimore, MD. He enjoyed playing hockey with the Hershey Bears and had a passion for the sport.
He moved to Oklahoma in 1970 where he worked as a Sales Technician for Rockwell International. He then branched out to a very successful sales career becoming one of the top 10 sales representatives in the U.S. for AMP Corporation.
In April of 1975, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and served Him with all his heart and soul. He was gifted to work with children and youth, mentoring and leading many to the fullness of life in Jesus. He started a very successful youth rollerblade hockey league. The D.U.C.K.S. Youth Sports association started in the gym of the Church of the New Life, later moving to a skating rink.
He served as youth pastor for Church of the New Life in Oklahoma City, organizing and managing youth camps for many years, and Youth and Associate Pastor for Westgate New Life church in Sulphur, OK. While there, he was responsible for running their private school in addition to being the Resort Manager for Arbuckle Resort.
He was passionate about mentoring youth and was a huge influence in guiding many to a positive, productive life.
He went to work for House of Life Drug Recovery for juveniles and later for the DOC working to help individuals get back on their feet after incarceration.
Wayne was an avid fisherman. He fished lake Hefner almost every day. He loved the outdoors and was quite the bird enthusiast. You could ask him just about anything involving fish or birds and he had the answer.
Most recently, his passion was fervently praying for his city, state, and nation and leading a precious home fellowship group of amazing God-loving people.
He led a life of giving and serving others. His life influenced and changed thousands of lives. His greatest passion and joy was leading people to a fullness of life in Jesus Christ.
He was our beloved, kind, generous, honorable, husband, father, and spiritual leader loved by so many and will be missed dearly!
