Bill Sharp, 89 of Oklahoma City, died Feb. 7th at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1921 in White City, KS, the son of Col. H M and Inez Sharp. He graduated from White City (Kansas) High School in 1939 and joined the Navy in 1940. He married Jacqueline Galloway Jan. 21, 1942. After serving 20 years in the Navy, he retired to Carmi,IL (where he had served as Navy Recruiter) to serve as Chief of Police; later serving as White County Circuit Clerk. In 1968, they moved to Centralia, IL where he was plant manager for Hindman Mfg. Upon retiring in 1985, they moved to Oklahoma City. He worked with Methodist Youth in San Diego and Alameda,CA; Providence, RI; Carmi, IL; and Oklahoma City. He was a longtime member of Penn Avenue UMC and more recently a member of Linwood UMC. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jackie, and three daughters and sons in law; Patti Stahl (Tom) of Carmi, IL, Mary Beth Guard (Mike) of Oklahoma City, and Cindy Reininger (Bill) of Woodlawn, IL. Another daughter, Karen Sharp of Oklahoma City preceded him in death. Also surviving are his twin brother Bob (June) of Oklahoma City. Other siblings are Hazle Parsons of San Jose, CA, Jim (Mickey) of Manhatten, KS, and Betty Smith (Bob), Arroyo Grande, CA. Four granchildren survive; Casey Emerick, Heather Pierce (Glen), Levi Stahl (Stacey), and Matt Stahl (Jill). Six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews survive. A memorial service will be held at Linwood UMC, 3034 NW 17th St., Oklahoma City at 2:00 PM Saturday, Feb 12, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
