Willie C. Huntley

Willie C. Huntley, OKC, died at home on December 30, 2012. He was born August 9, 1932, in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Robert and Nora Huntley. Willie accepted Christ as his Savior as a young boy. After the death of his mother, he, his brother, James and sister, Cynthia lived at the Baptist Children's Home in Portales, NM. He was exceptionally responsible for his age and was in charge of the younger boys in his dorm. Willie worked as a plumber for his Dad in New Mexico before moving to OKC where he worked for Manning Plumbing. He enjoyed woodworking and created several family heirlooms and fine furniture. In later years, he enjoyed creating artistic pen/pencil sets for friends, family, and his health care providers. He enjoyed reading and weekly trips to the library and was especially fond of Louis L'Amour westerns. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Robert Huntley; his brother, James F. Huntley; sister, Cynthia Huntley Larkins; son, Allen D. Huntley; and his grandsons, Chad Willis and Jesse Thannisch. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julia Smith Huntley and four children and their spouses: Robert and Beth Huntley, Rhonda and Mike Manning, and Toni and Allen Goldberg, all of Edmond, and Lucinda and Ralph Talley of Texarkana, TX; and sisters, Carolyn 0. Huntley, Andersonville, TN and Stephanie and Gordon Hurd, Albuquerque, NM. Willie and Julia have 7 grandchildren: Ben Huntley, Nick Huntley, Laura (Manning) and Brian Blundell, Kevin and Ashley Manning, Josh and Ailie Holdman, Aubrey Goldberg, Ethan Goldberg; and 3 great-grandchildren: Collin Holdman, Lila Holdman, and Katelyn Blundell. Willie was a very dedicated Christian, very prayerful and a wonderful example to those around him. He loved his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Huntley family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to City Hospice and staff for their tender loving care and support. Willie and Julia are members of Kelham Baptist Church, 3400 N. Meridian Ave., OKC, where a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 6525 N.
